Protest Sweatshops!

If you are tired of cheap, shoddy foreign goods that seem to be the stock in trade of certain discount store chains, shop Etsy! Beware, however, of the sweatshop goods that are beginning to appear on that site, as well. Avoid anything with a price that seems too good to be true. Most likely, that ultra-low price is only possible because the items are being produced in factories where employees (and I use that term loosely) are subjected to inhumane working conditions. Items that are handmade tend to be a bit more expensive--but will ultimately last much longer than those that are mass produced in foreign factories. Please remember to shop responsibly!
